Warm Heads, Warm Hands, Warm Hearts | Third Annual Hats and Mittens Drive
This winter, Team BizStream was was able to help several children stay a little warmer during Michigan’s frosty months, with our Warm Heads, Warm Hands, Warm Hearts Project. This is the third consecutive year in which we aimed collect 100 hats and 100 mittens for 100 chilly children enrolled in the GRPS Student Homeless Program. Keep reading to discover what made this drive extra special!

PROJECT RECAP

Keeping with tradition, we kicked off our hats and mittens drive in October at BizStream’s annual Chili Cook Off, where the BizStream team and their friends and families cheerfully filled bins with colorful winter gear. The following week, we opened the drive up to community members. We had a lot of fun donations come in during the duration of our drive, including Minion and Superhero themed gear.

This drive was particularly special as we had a number of thoughtful, handmade hats gifted. Some of those hats were handmade by 3rd through 5th graders in an after school enrichment class, organized by Springview and Evergreen Elementary and Oakwood Intermediate, all located in Allendale, MI. Each of the students met after school for 6 weeks to complete their project. Some of the hats were even accompanied by very special notes, written by the students who knitted the hat.

PROJECT OUTCOME

We were able to collect 93 hats, 74 mittens, and 3 scarves this season. While we were a bit shy in reaching our goal this year, we are satisfied in knowing that we were able to help a great number of students endure the frigid months ahead. We are excited to see what our Warm Heads, Warm Hands, Warm Hearts Project brings in 2017!
