American Burn Association

Modernizing a Core Digital Experience to Better Serve Members, Professionals, and the Public

The American Burn Association (ABA) is dedicated to improving the lives of everyone affected by burn injuries. With more than 2,800 members across the United States and around the world, ABA brings together physicians, nurses, therapists, researchers, and first responders to advance burn prevention, care, rehabilitation, and research.

ABA serves healthcare professionals as well as patients, families, and the broader public by providing education, clinical resources, professional development, and access to trusted information in burn care. Guided by four pillars, Education, Quality Care, Research, and Prevention, ABA plays a central role in connecting multidisciplinary experts and advancing standards across the field.

Project Goals

ABA sought BizStream’s expertise to evolve the association’s digital presence into a more effective, dependable extension of its mission. The goal was not simply to update the website, but to strengthen it as a core communication and engagement platform that could better support members, healthcare professionals, and the public. Together, the teams focused on creating a clearer, more cohesive experience that reflected ABA’s leadership in burn care while establishing a foundation flexible enough to adapt as the organization’s needs continue to grow and change.

Results

The redesigned ABA website created a clearer, more cohesive digital foundation that better supports members, healthcare professionals, and the public while reducing operational friction for internal teams.

Users can now more easily find critical resources without relying on guesswork or deep knowledge of ABA’s internal systems. Internally, the communications team benefits from simplified workflows and improved content accuracy, allowing them to focus more on strategy and engagement rather than maintenance.

Key outcomes included:

  • Improved findability of essential resources, including Find a Burn Center, events, fellowships, and job postings.
  • A more unified experience across ABA’s digital ecosystem, reducing confusion between platforms.
  • Reduced manual content entry and administrative overhead for staff.
  • Strong early qualitative feedback, including fewer complaints about navigation and difficulty finding information.
  • A scalable foundation that supports ongoing enhancements and future digital initiatives.

The new site has been easy for members to navigate, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. People are finding what they need, the navigation feels intuitive, and the search experience supports users when it matters most. Overall, it has been one of the most seamless website launches I’ve been part of.
