Mark Schmidt

Founder / Developer

Mark is passionate about building a team of highly skilled people who love what they do. He believes having smart, dedicated people on the team provide immeasurable benefits to BizStream’s clients. Mark has a crazy penchant for web tech, data, coffee, and music (the more obscure the better). He’s always on the hunt to see what technology trends might help his clients or anyone else he knows. In his down time, he loves spending time with his wife and 3 daughters.

Brian McKeiver

Solution Architect / Co-Owner

Brian is BizStream’s Kentico king. A Kentico-certified developer and MVP, he’s been using the platform for 5 years and counting. Brian has a wealth of experience with all kinds of software, but he’s so psyched about using Kentico to build websites and apps, he regularly contributes to the Kentico community with his blogs, podcasts, and speaking gigs. When he’s not working, Brian hangs out with his wife and 3 daughters, and fiercely roots for the Spartans and Detroit Lions.

Cory VandenBout

Web Developer

In an office of eccentric teammates, Cory brings the normal. Low key and mellow, Cory has been developing software for BizStream since 2006. He handles product development and support, and manages the company’s technology. In his off time, Cory is an all-star dodge ball player, and digs home automation, movies, and playing sports and games. He enjoys spending time with his wife Becky, daughter Zoe, and his cat Cocoa.

Dave Valko

Sales Engineer

Dave’s got a strong background in film production and it has transferred well to web and software development. Like with any good production, Dave believes in strong planning up front which means clients get a well thought out plan before a single line of code gets written. After a day of sketching up wireframes, creating flowcharts, or writing proposals, you can usually find Dave snapping photos, hanging out with his wife, or happily getting destroyed by his boys in Halo.

Mike Kren

Project Manager

Mike has been managing large-scale projects for the better part of the last 11 years. His passion is bringing order to the chaos to keep everyone on the same page and the work moving forward. He has always enjoyed working as part of a team, and believes that team includes clients too. Mike loves spending time with his wife, 4 kids, and 2 dogs. He’s an avid film buff, amateur backpacker, and experimental cook, with flashes of brilliance around a pool table.

Darian Bonnell

Solution Architect

An outgoing and energetic individual, Darian has been working in the tech industry for over 20 years. In that time, he has worn many hats including quality assurance, development, sales, and architecture. While his goal is to continually make his job enjoyable for the clients and co-workers he works with, Darian knows when and how to get the important tasks completed to move projects forward. When not working, Darian loves going on dates with his wife and playing with his three, young daughters.

Ben Buurstra

Web Developer

Ben has always loved technology and computers but was a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to coding. He wrote his first line of code during his freshman year of college, afterward, he became completely hooked. After just one semester, Ben was working as a programming tutor for his college and doing tons of web development projects. When Ben isn’t working on a side project you’ll find him spending time with his wife and their dog, or playing video games with friends.

Dustin Christians

Web Developer

Dustin has gone from satellite communications technician to computer engineer to web developer. He has always been excited about the prospects of technology; all that can be explored and discovered with it fascinates him. When Dustin is not developing software you can find him studying philosophy and preparing for another sailing or skiing adventure with his wife, Molly.

Blair Compston

Systems Administrator

Blair has been playing with computers as long as he can remember. He has worked in companies both big and small and in every position from helpdesk through manager, and now he brings his knowledge of all things IT to BizStream. As our IT and DevOps guy, he keeps our servers running, networks in line, and clouds fluffy. Outside of work, this family guy can be found spending some QT with his wife and four kids or tackling yet another home renovation project.

Caleb Compston

Project Manager

Caleb has been managing products, projects, and processes for small nonprofits to multi-billion dollar companies for the last 10 years. With a passion for making technology accessible to the masses, Caleb found his niche in being able to communicate and document both complex and simple ideas to a wide variety of target audiences. When he isn’t managing the latest project, Caleb enjoys spending time with his wife and young daughter, building with Legos, and reading books.

Nate Graham

Web Developer

Nate first started using a computer at 5 years old when his grandfather showed him how to type DOS commands to play games. Ever since then he’s had a desire to learn new things about technology and software development. At home, Nate enjoys playing video games with his son, Carson, dancing with his daughter, Sutton, and laughing with his wife, Ashtyn.

Chris Hamm

Front-End Developer

Chris got his degree in music education in 2006. Over the years he has directed musicals, taught voice lessons, and managed $10 million in sales for an artisan bread company. After becoming disenchanted with jobs that were personally unfilling and taking him away from his family, he decided to turn his programming hobby into a career. Becoming a developer means the opportunity to integrate his creative roots with his technological passions. He thinks BizStream is the perfect place to do that.

Amanda Hodges

Bookkeeper

Amanda is a part-time bookkeeper, and she also takes care of various accounting and office tasks for BizStream. Working part-time allows Amanda to spend the majority of her time taking care of her three young children: Brooke, Jake, and Leah. When she does get a moment to herself, Amanda enjoys going to the gym to do some cardio or just relaxing with a good book by her favorite author, Harlan Coben.

Stephanie Hofman

Front-End Developer

Stephanie is the offspring of two IT parents who would read her bedtime stories of programming projects, all with happy endings. Although her teenage rebellion years led her towards graphic design, she came around and continued the Hofman legacy as a Computer Information Systems major in college. Stephanie has found a love for front-end web development and enjoys coding at BizStream. When Stephanie isn’t slinging code, she enjoys reading, playing soccer, and spending time with family.

Albert Hovingh

Web Developer

A Grand Valley State University graduate, Albert is the guy who takes on new technology and learns it inside and out. At BizStream, he mostly does SharePoint and Kentico development, but you can put him on any project and it will be a success. Albert has four adorable kids, and is a shark when it comes to Foosball and anything XBox-related.

Michelle Lentz

Marketing Communications Manager

Marketing communications manager/office manager, Michelle, is really our office extraordinaire. She keeps the team on track and manages office operations with ease and efficiency. As if keeping the team in line wasn't enough, she also takes on our marketing efforts. Michelle is mother of two adorable girls, Elliott Sage and Harper Willow. In addition to her office and mom duties, Michelle is our peace-loving hippie with an affinity for sustainable practices, vegetarianism, and organic living.

Ansel Pineiro

Web Developer

Ansel is the Hotfixer. Whenever a site needs to be hotfixed or upgraded, he gets it done lightning fast. He always seeks to find the right balance between performance and readability in all the code he writes. Between code writing and hotfixes, he makes the office a more enjoyable place to work by finding new music and desktop wallpapers for everyone to enjoy. Some think he’s crazy, but Bizstream knows him as The Hotfixer!

Keith Rodgers

Web Developer

Keith is a man of integrity and character. His goals in life are to Glorify God and love and serve his wife and family faithfully. He has an engineer’s mindset and enjoys seeing the big picture before diving into specific parts of the puzzle. Keith was born and raised in Allendale, MI, where he plans to raise a family with his wife, Carlee. After a long day of developing, Keith enjoys spending time with family and friends, doing physical work, and enjoying the great outdoors.

Josh Rubino

Project Manager

Josh started his management career in the movie business, working on various productions and thriving in the heightened intensity of a film set. He loves planning and strategizing, working with his fellow colleagues in living out the BizStream mission of doing whatever it takes. When he isn’t at work, Josh and his wife Christina assume the character roles of either the “avid backpacking outdoorsmen” or….the “American Dream Homeowners who binge watch Netflix”.

Bonny Schmidt

Accountant

Bonny is the queen of checks and balances at BizStream, literally. Bonny also keeps BizStream in order in more ways than just finances. She manages the company’s human resources issues, plans the parties, makes sure we’re fed during lunch and learns, and on and on. When Bonny gets some free time, she spends it with her husband and 3 adorable daughters, Addison, Mya, and Ava.

Julie Stanard

Quality Assurance Specialist

She’s got a fever, and the only cure is more screenshots! Julie has always had a love of technology but only dove into a full-time QA position after a three-year career in Fisheries and Wildlife. Julie loves to break the shiny new features developers create in order to ensure a user experience free of “tech rage”. When she’s not adding to the vial of developer’s tears on her desk, Julies loves spending time with her family, taking her dogs (and cat!) on hikes, and gardening.

Tim Stauffer

Web Developer

Completely self-taught and a Jack of all trades, Tim’s the man when it comes to making things happen with websites and software. Given enough time, he can figure anything out. It makes him feel all warm and fuzzy inside when he makes something and others use it to make their lives better. We like his big heart. Tim enjoys “experimenting with food,” and is just a bit addicted to World War II movies.

Sam Steele

Web Developer

Sam loves learning. While teaching himself to program, Sam found a place of friends in the Open Source Community where he was able to grow his skills with other young developers. His primary goal at BizStream is to learn and gain as much experience from the rest of the team. When he's not programming, you can find Sam playing his favorite video game, Rainbow Six Siege, watching movies old movies, or tinkering with his car.

Ian TeGrootenhuis

Web Developer

Ian was raised in Allendale, Michigan and has lived there his whole life. He loves the location; being a few minutes from the Lake Michigan and downtown Grand Rapids in a small town is perfect. From an early age he fell in love with video games and wanted to develop them. In pursuit of following his dream he found Bizstream Academy, and signed up to gain some coding experience. Ian loved the Academy so much his passion changed to web development. In his spare time Ian still plays video games.

Shelby Tieche

Front-End Developer

When Shelby was thirteen she didn’t realize that the hours she spent staying up late building themes and layouts for MySpace and Xanga pages would later inspire her future career choice. As a recent grad from Michigan State and an even more recent Texas transplant, she now applies her knowledge to the front-end development team at BizStream. Shelby is excited to be back in the Grand Rapids area where she frequents music venues and local breweries.

Josh Trench

Quality Assurance Specialist

Josh hails from the early days of BizStream and recently returned. Josh was brought back to drive developers crazy with endless screen captures and loads of constructive criticism. When he’s not finding software bugs, you will most likely find him running around making sure our building is in prime condition. Outside of work, re-explores the Grand Rapids beer scene, backpacks, practices surfing, and finesses his mountaineering skills.

Ryan Woodcox

Web Developer

Ryan was creating his own websites about video games and wrestling in 5th grade. He started programming in 7th grade, when he created ZZT games, using the ZZT-oop scripting language. He learned VB6 from his dad while in middle school, which allowed him to work on Windows Forms trivia games. He graduated from WMU with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Ryan loves rock climbing, learning new technologies, video games, card games, films & TV, and quoting Denzel Washington.

Jordan Whiteley

Web Developer

Jordan is a low key guy with the drive to learn about software architecture, functional programming, and web automation. He’s been into computers since the day his uncle gave him his old commodore 64. He even chose to buy his own computer instead of a car when he turned 16. Currently he enjoys being a Lego robotics coach for middle schoolers, playing Super Nintendo, taking walks in the woods, and snuggling on the couch with his 3 kids and 2 cats.

Mike Webb

Web Developer

Mike started his programming career in high school on a TI83+ calculator. In college he continued with C++. His desire to code came from playing video games and wanting to know how they worked and from his mother who also worked in software. After getting the “bug” for coding and with the insatiable thirst for learning, he never looked back. Aside from programming Mike loves hiking, fishing, listening to and playing music, being involved at church and spending time with his family and friends.

Wally

Team Manager

Wally has been managing projects at BizStream since the beginning and is passionate about keeping Team BizStream on their toes. Wally isn't afraid to call people out on their mistakes and believes honesty is the best way to get things done. Despite his hostility, this lovable robot is a team player and helps BizStream be as efficient as possible. He is known for working long hours and is always on call for support requests. In his free time, Wally enjoys surfing the Dark Web and people watching.
